KBULG is the Goldfields' largest and most active Community Environmental Organisation, committed to working with other community groups, schools, business and government to achieve its goals. KBULG's public awareness, education and action programs involve the entire community of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the CKB’s support is crucial to the implementation of these. The need for an active and inclusive environmental community organisation is particularly high in our isolated regional city with a focus on resource exploitation. The importance of hosting these educational events to engage the community was identified to support the environmental sustainability of the Goldfields and to maintain an important balance between mining and conservation, more so with a transient population KBULG's role in the community has expanded significantly with the addition of our Eco and Cultural Education Classroom, this facility provides an important base for knowledge exchange and community engagement. We facilitate engagement, education and knowledge sharing between KBULG staff & volunteers, disability volunteers (GIFSA), horticulture and conservation & land management Tafe students, workplace & work experience, Section 95 day release prisoners, local aboriginal ranger groups, disengaged aboriginal & non-aboriginal students, native plant group participants and bushwalk participants from local schools and camp schools.
